2023 LGBTIQ ARTIST CALL OUT - COASTAL TWIST FESTIVAL EXHIBITION

LGBTIQ ARTIST CALL OUT - COASTAL TWIST FESTIVAL EXHIBITION across multiple mediums including (but not limited to) Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Collage, Ceramics, Drawing, Sculpture or other mediums. 

2023 will host 2 showcases, an Adult Artist and Youth Artist category (12 - 17).

Coastal Twist Festival is calling out to our regions LGBTIQ visual artists for inclusion in its second curated installment to be held at the FunHaus Factory at Kibble Park, Gosford.

The exhibition will be held from Tuesday the 26th Sept - 3rd Oct 2023.

“Inclusion means you” is our theme for this year’s Coastal Twist Festival.

The EOI is now open and Exhibiting artists are requested to submit a scan of their work (or concept) for an artwork expressing their interpretation of ‘Inclusion means you’

The exhibition will be curated by Gosford Artist Oliver Vincent and will reflect (some of) the diversity of our Coastie LGBTIQA+ lives.

Existing artworks are preferable.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: (To be considered)

  • DEADLINE FOR EOI APPLICATION (FORM BELOW) MONDAY 7th OF AUGUST 2023.
  • You must identify as LGBTIQ to submit work
  • Submissions are welcome in 2 & 3D mediums: Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Collage, Ceramics, Drawing, Sculpture or other mediums. 
  • All artworks should be available for sale- (Unless specified otherwise) & Coastal Twist Festival will receive a minimal 10% commission of any sales
  • All works to be max canvas size – A3 (29.7cm x 42cm)
  • All final entries by artists will be notified by the curatorial team & no further discussion will be entered into after that - Late entries will not be accepted
  • Images submitted via the form may be used as part of any social media roll out by the Coastal Twist team with regards to the 2023 art exhibition
  • Be aware that details shared within the submission form are made public during our exhibition run times
  • At the end of the Exhibition unsold artworks are to be collected by artists from the FunHaus Factory,124 Donnison Street at Kibble Park Gosford on Thursday 5th Oct 2023 between 9am-5pm
  • Sold artwork payments will be finalised within 2 weeks of event close

Due to space requirements, limited numbers of artworks will be selected. All artists notified must have artworks completed and ready to hang on the 26th of September.

We encourage artists to think big on a small scale - With existing artworks ideal for submission!.

Theme – "Inclusion means you"

All artists are invited to submit work that expresses their view of ‘Inclusion means you’… through 2D & 3D mediums: Painting, Photography, Digital Illustration, Printmaking, Collage, Ceramics, Drawing, Sculpture or other mediums. 

Designed to showcase LGBTIQ Central Coast artists to local, statewide and national audiences, Coastal Twist Festival has been breaking regional boundaries since its launch in 2019, connecting the region’s thriving creatives with new opportunities, residencies, audiences and new opportunities for paid work as the region and its businesses opens up for visible inclusion and a better way moving forward.

KEY DATES:   

  • 7 AUGUST 2023: DEADLINE FOR EOI APPLICATION (FORM BELOW)
  • 25 July 2023: Selected artists informed
  • 24 Sept 2023: FINISHED ARTWORKS to be dropped off at FunHaus Factory -124 Donnison Street at Kibble Park Gosford 4:30pm-5:30pm.
  • 26 Sept 2023:  Festival VIP Launch & Exhibition opening
  • 27 Sept - 2 Oct 2023:  Exhibition dates - Open daily 9am-4pm
  • 5 Oct 2022:  Work to be picked up between 9am-5pm

YOUTH CALLOUT

A part of the gallery space will be dedicated to our local 12 - 17 yr old artists.

If you’re an LGBTIQ artist, and aged 12-17, listen up - this year it's your time to apply as well!
