MARDI GRAS 2021 SEASON THEME - RISE
|
ABOUT OUR COASTAL TWIST FESTIVAL FLOAT
The impact of droughts, fires, floods and a global pandemic tested our spirit and resolve. When we rise to the occasion, amazing things happen. We are agents of change. We rise to the challenge of being our true selves, of loving who we love, of discovering our own identities, culture and creativity.
As the hinterland rolls down to our coastline, the Central Coast creates one of the most amazing coastlines in the world and with that magic as our inspirations our 2021 Mardi Gras float will “Rise” with the Mardi Gra theme with a deep dive into our salty, sultry waters.
69.23% of you wanted a “beach / Coastal theme” and another 53.85% vote for “Coastal Twist Festival theme, all other votes were under the 30% range and no longer included. So yes this is going to be Beach and all the creatures in and on the water themed
Your Commitment:
As there is a no trucks allowed policy there will be no major construction this year. With four differing costume outfits this year, all participants in the COASTAL TWIST FESTIVAL float at least one representative aka you, your family/friend/group member will need to attend one of the workshops on the Coast and construct your outfit/s with us.
At the workshop we will have all the tools and pre cut materials and tools ready to go so we can all glue and construct our outfits together! As per last year the added bonus of great vibes, new friendships, fun and lots of buzz.
Please note costumes are intentionally all very easy to create this year with only gluing and construction required, and we are certainly going to be taking everyone on an arts and craft journey.
Separate to mandatory Costume building workshop there will also be mandatory choreography afternoon to learn our assigned spots and our movements to the song.
Our group will be walking all the way around the stadium first and then is going to get a 45 second spot as we cross the field through the middle (same as Taylor square normally and that’s also where the judges and media will be).
